304L ConFlat (CF) Flanges

304 series stainless steel is a standard material for ultra-high vacuum (UHV) and extreme high vacuum (XHV) processes. 304 SS material is utilized in chemical/physical vapor deposition, nuclear power generation, semiconductors, and other vacuum processes.

ConFlat flanges are available in two general styles: fixed (set bolt-hole orientations) or rotatable (moveable bolt-hole orientations). Standard applications for flanges use a fixed to rotatable flange assembly ensuring successful bolt-hole alignment. Both flange styles have the option of clearance or tapped bolt holes; Clearance bolt holes allow for a bolt to travel through the complete depth of a flange and are secured with a nut while a tapped bolt hole is threaded to accept the bolt directly without the use of a nut.

Also known as 18-8 stainless steel for its 18% chromium content and 8% nickel content, 304L stainless steel differs from 304 stainless steel in carbon content: 304L SS has a maximum carbon content of 0.03% compared to 304 SS with a maximum of 0.08%. This decrease in carbon content allows 304L SS products to have high oxidation resistance and the elimination of carbide precipitation during welding.

ConFlat flanges are also available in 316LN stainless steel, with options such as 316L stainless steel, Titanium, Bimetal, and 6061 -T6 aluminum available by request.

All flanges offered by ANCORP are manufactured on state-of-the-art CNC (computer numerical control) lathes to ensure consistency with dimensional tolerances and extremely fine surface finishes.
